How to use your barcode

1. Incorporate the barcode image into your product packaging design

You will receive the barcode package purchased from us in an email message containing

  • unique EAN-13 barcode number(s),
  • barcode images (in 4 different formats – PNG, JPG, SVG, PDF),
  • your guarantee certificate and
  • instructions for how to register your barcode number.

After you receive your barcodes, please choose your preferred barcode image format (e.g. jpeg) and add the barcode image into the design of your product packaging or label. You can resize the barcode image if necessary, so that it fits your packaging. The barcode images we send are in the standard size (38mm wide x 25mm high). If you need to you can safely resize them to about 80% of this (30mm wide x 20mm high).  You can also find more information about barcode dimensions here.

2. Print the product packaging

After you incorporate your barcode into the design for the label/packaging, you can have your labels or packaging printed. We recommend printing a sample first, so that you can make sure that the printed barcode looks okay and scans easily.

3. Distribute your product to your retailers

When your labels or packaging with the barcodes has been printed you can distribute your product to retail stores. Ask your retailers to enter the barcode number and product details into their system. Your retailer will usually first enter your barcode number and all the relevant product details (price, product name, description, reordering information, etc.) into their computer system and then scan your barcode image. After this process is complete, your product information will appear on the retailer’s computer screen when the barcode is scanned.

4. Register your barcode number online (optional)

At any stage during this process you can register your barcode numbers online. We include barcode registration instructions at the bottom of the ‘Barcode Order’ email you receive from us. Barcode registration is optional and its serves the purpose of increasing the internet profile of your product by creating an online link between your barcode number, company, and product.
